Volunteers Run One Trapped on the Mountain
Fri. Nov 27th 2009

At 1358 hours, Engine 10, Support 12, and other Greene County units responded to Route 33 West halfway up the mountain for the MVA with one reported unconscious and trapped. Support 12 arrived and advised they had a 2 vehicle head-on collision with one occupant still trapped and a total of 5 patients. FF Clay assumed the command and crews went to work assisting the patient until Engine 10 arrived.  Engine 10 arrived a short while after and Chief 11(Clay) assumed the command. Support 12 and Engine 10's crew began working on extricating the patient. Engine 23 arrived and began assisting in the extrication while Car 20 arrived and took Engine 10 to the top of the mountain to land Pegasus.  The patient was extricated and transferred to EMS personnel whom then transported to the top of the mountain for Pegasus to transport to UVA. Crews returned to service around 1516 hours.
